A few weeks ago my brother and I went on a 6 day backpacking trip along the Appalachian Trail in Shenandoah National Park.  It was nice to unplug, meet incredible people, and simply walk.  These are a few images, all taken with the Fuji X100 and processed with VSCO Film.  Panoramics done in camera and may be clicked on for larger viewing.

Its such a beautiful area, I would love to go back for a wedding...

Reflect

It has been sometime since I have gathered thoughts and put them to words on the blog.  For that I apologize.  It is not from a lack of enjoyment or passion, simply that expressing those emotions I find it difficult to describe.  As I sit on our back lani, on a late warm night, after an evening rain, I reflect on the first half of the year.  When you put your full heart into something, it is challenging to open up.  To show the true feelings.  Those feelings are true.  I don’t take one day for granted, one couple, one email.  Every moment pushes me to be a better photographer, better person.  I have had dates changed on multiple occasions because I was originally unavailable, budgets completely re-worked.  I am truly thankful.  For everyone I have encountered, for everyone I have had the privilege of photographing.

Imagery is what I strive to achieve.  To combine a series of photographs to form a greater story.  To document true emotion, true love, life...  It is a beautiful life God has blessed me with, and for that I am humbled.  Even though I may not put many words on here, know that I am inspired, moved, and so thankful for what I do and who I photograph.  I hope that expression is seen through the photographs.

A few months ago I documented one of the most beautiful stories in my life, it changed the way I see the world.

I am truly a blessed man, my family is my world.

A humble step towards the future:

Photography has always been a part of my life, but for the last 5 years it has influenced me tremendously, the most being in the last year.  You may or may not know this about me, but in college I was an accounting major and an art minor.  That probably makes no sense to a lot of you, but to me it was the perfect combination.  It gave me the opportunity to live the American dream with my wife, yet still stay true to my creative side. It was while completing my art minor that passion for photography began.  Those late nights spent in the dark room or studio, inspired me to learn as much as I could in such a short period of time.  After graduation, the American dream took over the creative passion.  Photography was still something I enjoyed and did regularly as a hobby.

It wasn’t until a little over a year ago that I stumbled onto some really creative work.  I always thought wedding photography was boring; shoot, mine was!  But this was different.  This was creative, modern, passionate, romantic, and fun!  This is what I wanted to do!

So I invested in some better gear, got a web page, and began marketing.  I was shooting for the stars and loving every minute of it!

I have learned so much in the past year; I feel like my style is finally beginning to develop.  Those late nights in the studio are starting to pay off, and I get overly excited sharing my work with clients.

I have heard and seen the benefits of blogging and only a few months ago recently, began blogging myself.  So now, I would like to welcome you to the new official website/blog.  I made the change for a few reasons-one, it can be customized easily and displays much larger images.  Two, it can be viewed on all your favorite apple devices :)  Also, as I evaluate my brand, this website/blog gets me excited about the future.  So take a minute and check everything out,  there will be some additional changes in the near future so make sure to stay tuned!

You will also notice a slight change in the business name.  In addition, I want to share a little history of “Sunglow.”  It was originally named after my favorite surf spot, a pier in Daytona where  you could catch a solid ride and everyone in the water surfed with a passion.  So it began with a dream in the ocean, and has developed into a life style and a passion.

I have enjoyed the relationships photography has given me and don’t take any of them for granted.  I simply have a vision, it is all of you who make my work what it is!

I hope you will visit often, I hope you see my work as more than just an image on paper or pixels on a computer screen.  Instead, I hope it is something inspiring, something creative, and something that tells a story to last a lifetime.
